Former Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips has been quoted saying many positive things about Hull City midfielder Jarrod Bowen and has suggested he could be a hit at Leeds United.

According to BirminghamLive, he told Quest TV: “He’s a quality player and there’s a lot of talk about him moving on. His movement is very good and his technical ability. He’s a player who is going places.

“Dare I say it, put him in the Leeds team in January and he might be the difference between them getting promoted or not.”

Bowen has a Transfermarkt value of £9m, which for a player who has already scored nine goals in the Championship this season, is a bargain. However, that figure isn’t likely to be anywhere enough to bring him to Elland Road in January, as the player has been vitally important for the Tigers. He bagged an impressive 22 goals last season, which led to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur being linked with a move for him at the beginning of the year – a move that could have cost north of £20m (Sky Sports).

However, with Hull currently 11th in the Championship and Leeds likely to gain promotion this season, the move would be a natural step up for the 22-year-old.

We have already mentioned the Englishman’s goal-scoring capabilities, but that’s not all he’s good at. Amazingly, Bowen has managed to maintain an average WhoScored rating of 7.36/10, which would be the second-highest in the Leeds squad. He also has two assists to his name, showing that besides scoring, he clearly has great vision when spotting a pass.

Indeed, goals at the moment appear to be rather difficult to come by for the Whites, as Patrick Bamford has just four to his name, whilst Eddie Nketiah sits on three with Jack Harrison, Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski sitting on two apiece (WhoScored).

Adding a player of Bowen’s attacking prowess to the middle of the field could certainly help the team in their efforts and help propel them past their Championship rivals.

With his obvious threat going forward and even having some experience playing centre-forward, the transfer is a no brainer, it’s hardly a surprise that Phillips believes he could be a good fit at Elland Road and provide Marcelo Bielsa’s side with the potential difference needed to get them promoted.

However, whether Leeds have the funds to sign him available, or if Hull can be tempted to cash in on him to a Championship rival remains to be seen, although any sort of transfer scenario at the moment doesn’t look likely.
