Darren Bent has revealed he believes Leeds United’s Jack Harrison has been performing to a standard that many would have not expected to have seen from him this season.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “But Jack Harrison has performed really well, he has exceeded expectations, not many people spoke about him being the main man at the start of the season, a lot of people spoke about Jack Clarke being the main man, but it’s not happened for him at all.”

Harrison has played 1310 minutes in the Championship this season, scoring three times and assisting four times.

When commenting on this form, the former Aston Villa striker, Bent said: “But it’s brilliant for Harrison and hopefully he can maintain it and Leeds can get promoted.”

Harrison has now scored in his last two matches, which is his best streak in the Championship this season.

Leeds, thankfully, have an option to buy the 22-year-old when his loan spell expires, which is great news considering the young man’s current form.

Bent also described Harrison as: “Another one who has come on leaps and bounds, he showed flashes last year but he has come on this season and Leeds are in a good place this season, they’re near the top at the moment.”

The use of the term “another one” is probably related to the number of young players Leeds currently have, with 9/19 of their players being aged under 26, which for a team that is currently third in the Championship is pretty amazing, with the youngest being Leif Davis at just 19-years-old.

So far this season, Harrison has been a standout player, but it’s important that he can keep up this form for the rest of the season, otherwise the current hype around him may start to fade away.
