Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit is not convinced Unai Emery’s position as Head Coach is secure despite the clubs recent comments. The 49-year-old has pulled no punches when criticising his former club in recent months and his comments have upset some of the current players – most notably Shkodran Mustafi.
Petit has suggested to Paddy Power (via The Sun) the club lied when they publicly backed Emery following the defeat at the King Power Stadium. “What the club came out and said about Emery’s job being safe is not true at all.”
“This is a political answer and most of the time when I hear officials or shareholders talk like this it’s proof for me that they’re already thinking about sacking the manager.”
The Frenchman’s comments are based on nothing more than his own opinion but these supporters are now pondering over whether or not he has a point.

He is absolutely correct, a diplomatic statement for the public to show stability

Petit does seem to be negative about Arsenal but he does have a point.

Hopefully he’s correct and we can get this clown out the door.

He might be right in this case. He might also be the French Merson.

Interesting facts. They can’t tell you they are close to sacking him.

Better be true .

What do we think?
Some are calling it the ‘dreaded vote of confidence’ and past experience will tell us that Petit’s claims are not at all outrageous. Very rarely will a club come out and publicly announce their manager is under pressure and so whilst the narrative remains that the club are fully behind the Spaniard, it’s impossible to know what sort of discussions are taking place in-house.
