Some Swansea City fans can’t stop hailing the performance of Wayne Routledge in the club’s South Wales derby win this past weekend.
Routledge made his second start of the season at the weekend against Cardiff and helped the Swans beat Cardiff 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
The London-born winger played on the left of a 4-2-3-1 shape against Neil Warnock’s men and also managed to assist Ben Wilmot’s first-half goal. That proved to be the winner, as Swansea climbed to fourth in the Championship table.
Who woke up with a smile on there face this morning..!

Routledge joined Swansea in the summer of 2011 from Newcastle United. Since arriving from St. James’ Park, the winger has played a total of 267 games for the club. He has scored 29 times, assisting 37 times too.
The winger has also played for Cardiff in the past and spent a loan spell at the Bluebirds in the 2008-09 campaign. He has plied his trade for the likes of Spurs, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers and even Portsmouth.
Some other Twitter users continued to hail the 34-year-old and his show on Sunday.
By the way, can we just take a minute to appreciate Wayne Routledge. The guy has completely reinvented himself as a left-winger at the age of 34, and was comfortably one of the best players on the pitch yesterday. Like a fine wine pic.twitter.com/cPWC9Kk1k1

At 34 years old @WayneRoutledge played the full 90 minutes of a South Wales derby, put in an incredible shift and set up the winning goal with a wonderful cross. Get this man a statue

This was Swansea’s first win in as many as four league games and their second triumph in eight Championship outings. The last time they had won a game was on the 5th of October against Stoke City at home.
Cooper’s men had started the campaign off in wonderful fashion. They were unbeaten in their first six league games, winning five of them. This included a win over Leeds United in a game that saw Routledge himself net a winner.
What do we think?
Routledge is loved by just about every Swansea fan and it is clear he has shown no signs of stopping. His contributions this season have been important and he has already done enough to start regularly for the side from the Liberty Stadium.
