Sheffield Wednesday: Fans impressed with Morgan Fox display

|

Sheffield Wednesday fans were heaping the praise upon left-back Morgan Fox after his solid defensive display in Saturday’s goalless draw with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.

The draw with fellow promotion hopefuls means Garry Monk’s side slip to fourth, but means they are now unbeaten in four games.

The left-back, who joined the Owls from Charlton in 2017, has been enjoying an extended run in the side of late and produced another fine display on Saturday, earning a man of the match worthy 7.7 rating from WhoScored. Fox himself wrote on Twitter that he thought his side were “unlucky not to get the win” and praised Owls fans for the “class atmosphere” which they helped to create at Hillsborough.

Some of the best reactions from Owls fans to Morgan Fox’s performance can be seen in the tweets below:

These tweets clearly show that Sheffield Wednesday fans were more than happy with Fox’s performance, with several commenting that the Welshman deserved to win the club’s Player of the Month award.

What do we think?

Garry Monk seems to have found a settled defensive shape in the early season and they made it two clean sheets from two games after keeping out Leeds. Morgan Fox has been a crucial part of that strong defence that has so far this season. The 26-year-old has really settled into the left-back position, averaging a rating of 6.78 per game in the Championship this season (as per WhoScored), as well as being in the top four for both blocks and clearances. So, Sheffield Wednesday fans will surely be hoping for another strong defensive display when they travel to Blackburn.
