The youthful nature of Liverpool’s side against Arsenal on Wednesday night got many fans talking before a ball was even kicked. However, some individual performances from the Carabao Cup tie saw many Liverpool fans commenting for the right reasons, with Harvey Elliott’s display coming in for some particularly glowing praise.

The 16-year-old became the youngest player to appear for the Reds at Anfield tonight, starting the game ahead of more senior prospects like Curtis Jones. Elliott didn’t disappoint, with some wonderful flashes throughout, giving fans a glimpse of what is to come in the future.

The fearless performance saw many supporters take to social media to praise the youngster, who only arrived on Merseyside in July of this year.

Some fans expressed their amazement that the young creator is still only 16 years of age:

What we think

Elliott’s maturity for one so young is quite a sight to behold. The England youth International has thus far impressed in his two appearances for Liverpool, receiving a 9/10 against MK Dons and a slightly lower score last night of 6/10, in which he has showed a tremendous amount of maturity. The fact that he is already starting in big cup ties, ahead of more experienced teammates, is a testament to his quality and adaption to Liverpool’s style of play.
