Some Chelsea fans have shared on Twitter their negative opinions on goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
This has come off the back of a tweet from one Chelsea fan urging the club to sign a new ‘keeper.
The fan, (@CentarBack) replied to a tweet from fellow Chelsea fan account @TheBlues_ who tweeted a quote from manager Frank Lampard agreeing with claims his team are conceding too many goals.
The response from CentarBack was that the club should drop current goalkeeper Kepa and sign a different one.
This tweet was met with a lot of Chelsea fans agreeing with the idea of Kepa being dropped.
Here’s a sample of Chelsea fans calling for a new goalkeeper:
Lampard know it.
Don’t worry, i see us having a new GK next season.

Absolute dub, when was the last time he’s bailed us out?

Absolute DUB mate, I think we need sign a goalkeeper and make Kepa second choice.
He only catches straight shots, he isn’t good enough for Chelsea
Yan Sommer impressed in the preseason game against Mondeglabach than he did.
I don’t want Sommer still

Kepa, who is valued at £54 million (as per Transfermarkt), has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season. In those appearances, the Spaniard has conceded 20 goals and only managed to keep three clean sheets (Transfermarkt).
This disappointing record is the main reason why some Chelsea fans are not happy with the 25-year-old.
Statistically, if Kepa saves one shot on target, the next one is a goal. He is worse than relegation keepers this season. Southampton keeper conceded 9 and still has a better save rate. pic.twitter.com/tiLb6CXMbw

What do we think?
Despite a hefty price tag, Kepa has yet to justify his big move to Chelsea with just three clean sheets to his name in 14 appearances this season (Transfermarkt), as mentioned above. Chelsea are currently serving a transfer ban, in which they are not allowed to sign any players before the end of the 2020 January transfer window. Because of this, Chelsea will not be signing any new goalkeepers this season, which means Kepa will stay as Chelsea’s first choice ‘keeper, until the end of the season at least. Whether Chelsea will sign a replacement for Kepa next summer is yet to be seen.
Although, signing a new ‘keeper to compete with Kepa for the number one spot would be beneficial for the Spaniard.
