Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to respond to a claim Wolves reporter Alex Dicken made in a Birmingham Live article, that former Villa winger Adama Traore is now one of the most “feared players” in the Premier League.
Dicken’s statement then received a lot of replies from Villa fans who were quick to disagree with the comment on their former player.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans disagreeing with the Traore statement:
Is he one of THE most feared players? I’m not sure I’d put him in that category… you have: Salah, Mane, Sterling, Aguero, De Bruyne etc. Then you have: Rashford, Zaha, possibly Jota and Jimenez from Wolves, along with others, before you get to Traore – unless you disagree?

World-beater? Not for me. Not now or ever. Wouldn’t swap for either of our recognised wide players right now. #UnpopularOpinion

The Spaniard joined Villa in 2015 for a fee of £9 million from FC Barcelona B. Traore spent one year at the club before being moved on to Middlesborough in 2016 (Transfermarkt). The 23-year-old made 12 appearances for the Villa first team, and during his time he managed to score one goal and made two assists. He also played in seven matches for the Villa U23’s (Transfermarkt).
In his article, Dicken says Villa made a mistake letting the winger leave the club and that their mistake could come round to bite them in Villa’s midweek Carabao Cup clash with Wolves, but some Villa fans disagree.
The Scottish Cafu had him in his pocket in playoff games v Boro. He wouldn’t have developed at Villa. Did improve at Boro and further still at Wolves and good luck to the lad, glad to see him doing well but I don’t think too many Villa fans will regret selling him

He was fast, but little end product. You can’t have 2-3 good games a season and be classed as a great player

“Most feared players”? He wouldn’t be in the top 30.

He’s a headless chicken…runs like mad past every defender on the pitch, over the hoarding and up the steps into row z. Mans like an untrained horse.

Nah. Still mostly useless.

What do we think?
Traore is a talented player without a doubt, you don’t graduate La Masia without an excess of football talent. Maybe his shaky early record in England is the reason why some Villa fans never really hit it off with the player. But now, Traore seems to have found his form at Wolves after four years in England, having scored two goals in seven appearances in the Premier League this season (WhoScored), as well as producing four assists in all competitions.
The upcoming clash between the two Birmingham clubs in the Carabao Cup will give Traore a chance to show Villa if they made the right or wrong decision by not keeping hold of him.
