Liverpool’s strong start to the season continued in midweek with a 4-1 win away at Belgian side Genk.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made the headlines for his two fantastic goals, but in the first half, there was a moment of pure brilliance from the Reds’ fantastic false nine.

Roberto Firmino, on the edge of the box, spotted the movement of Sadio Mane and found him with a ‘rabona’ flicked pass into the gap for his teammate, although the Senegalese wide-man couldn’t convert the chance to make it 2-0.

Firmino has been electric throughout the current campaign. The Brazilian, with a £72m market valuation on Transfermart.com, has already contributed three goals and eight assists in 14 games and the fans are absolutely loving the form he’s in (Transfermarkt).

Whilst the piece of skill that Firmino delivered was nothing short of sensational, it didn’t amount to an assist owing to Mane failing to convert the chance.

So whilst the fans loved the Brazilian’s pass, a lot of them couldn’t help but lament the missed opportunity.
