Wolverhampton Wanderers fans took to Twitter following their side’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Sunday to air their mixed emotions.
The Magpies opened the scoring, in what was a cagey affair at St. James’ Park, during the first half, but Wolves were able to peg back United with a Jonny Otto equaliser around 20 minutes from full time.
With Newcastle starting the weekend in a relegation place, hopes amongst Wolves supporters were high, after their midweek victory over Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League, but some were left disappointed by yesterday’s events.
Got to stop giving teams a goal head start

Fans of the Old Gold have enjoyed a steady start to the season, while Nuno Espirito Santo guides his side through a busy fixture list of Premier League and Europa League ties – alongside the two domestic cup competitions (via The Guardian).
With another point on the board leaving Wolves in the same position in the Premier League table as they started the weekend, 12th, other fans were more contented with the point than others.
Not a bad result but frustrating first half performance again when they were there for the taking

What do we think?
Wolves are playing a lot of football at the moment due to the clustered fixture list that is created through Europa League qualification and then the group stages and due to that some performances appear to be suffering (per The Guardian).
Coupled with the fact that Nuno Santo’s side was depleted in terms of defensive options, following Willy Boly’s ankle break, the point on the road to Newcastle – where Manchester United failed to gain any in recent weeks – may not be as poor as it looks on the face of it.
