Wolves fans took to Twitter after their side’s 2-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League to air frustrations on Morgan Gibbs-White’s performance.
The young Englishman played 59 minutes of the clash in Slovakia on Thursday night and was perceived to have put in a sub-par performance.
Despite the Express & Star awarding the 19-year-old with a relatively respectable 6/10 for his efforts, fans of the club could not hide their disappointment in the youngster on Twitter.
Brilliant result last night. Typical Wolves starting slow and figuring it out! I get MGW isn’t firing at the moment but given how daft Traore is making a lot of people look this year can we accept that Nuno is working out how to get the best out of him and give him time? #WWFC

Last night another opportunity for MGW to step up to the plate and he failed to take it. I don’t particularly see that as a negative, we’re going to have squad players at this stage that aren’t good enough. It doesn’t mean that Nuno is not going to give them opportunities tho

Agree with the lack of service and MGW was awful. Cutrone’s touch was poor thou and gave away needless fouls

Get rid of mgw

Gibbs-White has featured for Wolves on 64 occasions since making the jump up from the club’s academy set-up, but has only managed a solitary goal and assist in those appearances (as per Transfermarkt).
The £7.2 million-rated man (per Transfermarkt) has received much tout around a potential loan move away from Molineux to learn his trade.
Littered throughout supporters’ disappointment over the 19-year-old’s performance, Wolves fans expressed their belief that a loan move would be right for Gibbs-White.
Btw MGW needs to go on loan to a championship side , it will do him and wolves a lot of good at the moment #wwfc

Great 2nd half and another brilliant away win in Europe. A couple of thoughts though… Raul and cutrone don’t work. I think cutrone will be a hit but as a backup to Raul not his partner. MGW needs a loan spell. He takes 2 seconds longer than he has with ball. #Wolves #Europe

Need to put Adama or Neves on for gibbs. Missing that strive in going forward and the passes. Put MGW on loan for a Championship team where he’ll get a lot more game time. He didn’t play a lot in the Championship so a team like Forest or Derby would do good for him

What do we think?
While the loan system does have some apparent faults (The Guardian), it does still have benefits to young players’ progression.
While Gibbs-White does already have a lot of appearances under his belt for a teenager, a loan move where the 19-year-old can get consistent first-team experience could be best for all involved.
However, it is key to remember just that – Gibbs-White is a youngster learning his trade and should be allowed time to grow before any hard and fast judgements.
