Fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken to Twitter to share their disappointment at the news of an injury to Willy Boly.
The 28-year-old Frenchman was ruled out of the Old Gold’s trip to Newcastle on Sunday and it was revealed (via @TimSpiers) that a broken ankle will be keeping Boly sidelined for a number of months.
With the defender requiring surgery, mixed in amongst the well-wishes, supporters aired their frustration over being without their star defender for a prolonged period of time.
Damn. Hope for a full recovery and maybe we’ve got the guys to cover and play up to his level.

Oh dear. Poor chap. Really hope it’s a simple break and he heals quickly

Won’t be playing this side of new year is my guess. Could define our season this

These type of injuries are massively dependent on the severity. If he needs surgery it’ll be more. Let’s hope

Boly has been a key feature in the Wolves backline this season, making 16 appearances across the Premier League and Europa League – registering a goal and an assist (per Transfermarkt).
The 28-year-old joined the midlands club in 2018, in a £10.8 million move from Portuguese club Porto (as per Tranfermarkt), and has quickly become a key figure in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side (via Daily Mail).
With the number of weeks the Frenchman is set to miss still unclear, conversation amongst supporters quickly turned to who could act as a possible replacement for the defensive stalwart.
Gutted. We were so lucky with injuries last season. Boly has been solid so we will miss him. This could happen to anyone at anytime. I hope it’s not a bad break and his recovery is quick.

At least it’ll be scenes (hopefully) When Kilman scores a last minute winner

I think Saiss has played well at CB this season.

What do we think?
Boly has been a key figure in the Wolves backline, picking up a 7/10 in his last performance in the hard-fought 2-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava last week (per Express and Star), as well as having the highest rating per game in the Premier League this season (7.35, via WhoScored), and will be sorely missed.
While supporters anticipated the introduction of Max Kilman to the starting lineup in the same game, where he picked up a 6/10 (also per Express and Star), whether the 22-year-old is ready for consistent Premier League action – only time will tell.
