Spurs fans took to Twitter last night to voice their opinions on the potential transfer of right-back Serge Aurier and it seems as if the majority of fans would be happy to see the Ivorian leave.

Aurier has been linked (as per Calciomercato) with a January move to AC Milan and reportedly wanted to leave Spurs during the summer, but he ended up staying at White Hart Lane.

The Ivory Coast international, who joined Spurs from PSG as a replacement for Kyle Walker in August 2017, hasn’t really performed at the same level of his predecessor at Spurs, with the Ivorian now only valued at £13.5 million as he seeks a January escape. Aurier has made less than 50 appearances for Spurs in his two years with the club, with Kieran Trippier regularly preferred to Aurier before his move to Atletico in the summer.

It was expected that Aurier would become first-choice right-back at the club, but he has not impressed so far this season, averaging a 6.63 rating in the Premier League so far. It is perhaps no surprise that Spurs fans don’t appear to be too fussed about his potential departure from the club.

Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans on Aurier’s rumoured move to Serie A can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are clearly less than happy with Aurier since his signing and many would be happy to see him join AC Milan in January, with several offering to drive the right-back to Italy themselves.

What do we think?

Aurier certainly looks a liability at times and perhaps had any little confidence he had left when Serge Gnabry ran rings around him in Spurs’ Champions League thrashing earlier in October, and giving away a penalty against Liverpool certainly won’t have helped.

However, Aurier is Spurs’ only real experienced right-back, with Kyle Walker-Peters still only 22, and Juan Foyth more of a natural centre-back and still just 21. Perhaps it is time that Pochettino put his faith in Walker-Peters as the club’s number one right-back, with pundit Alan Hutton even raving about him earlier on this season.
