Manchester United: Some fans already miss Romelu Lukaku

|

Some Manchester United fans already seem to miss Romelu Lukaku, who grabbed a goal for Inter in the club’s 2-1 win over Brescia on Tuesday night.

The Belgian left the Old Trafford club this past summer and joined the Nerazzurri for a fee of £74 million. Lukaku has started his Serie A adventure in impressive fashion and has already scored seven times in the league for Antonio Conte’s side.

His goal against newly-promoted Brescia caught the eyes of many. He got the second of the game for the club, who climbed back to the top of the league for the time being.

Some United fans have admitted that they already miss the former Everton man.

Lukaku had joined United from Everton in the summer of 2017 when the club was managed by Jose Mourinho. He scored 16 times in the Premier League under Mourinho in the 2017-18 campaign, helping United finish second in the table.

Last season, the Belgian scored 12 times in the Premier League too. He was also on the scoresheet twice for the Red Devils in their miraculous 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in France in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash.

Some of the Old Trafford faithful, though, don’t seem to miss the striker as much as others appear to.

A product of the Anderlecht youth academy, Lukaku joined Chelsea in the summer 2011 and spent the 2012-13 campaign on loan at West Bromwich Albion. At the Hawthorns, he famously scored a hat-trick against United in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game as the manager of the club.

After an initial loan spell at Everton in the 2013-14 season, Lukaku joined the Goodison Park-based side permanently in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £28 million.

He went onto score 87 goals in all competitions for the Toffees, appearing 166 times and raking up a tally of 29 assists too.

What do we think?

United don’t miss Lukaku. They only miss the presence of a goalscorer like him. Their failure to replace him is costing them and leading some United fans to miss the Belgian. Once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer manages to sign a striker, the club’s fans will be over Lukaku and what he is doing at the San Siro.
