Some Manchester United have been left overjoyed by an incredible statistic about Anthony Martial following the Frenchman’s goal against Norwich City last night.

The former Monaco man has been on the scoresheet for two games in a row now. Even though he missed a penalty at Carrow Road, Martial did score a goal in the second half to take his tally to three in the Premier League.

A statistic that broke out on Twitter states that the Red Devils have won 77% of their league games under Ole Gunnar Solskjær when the 23-year-old has started. But they’ve won only 29% of games when he hasn’t started.

This left many United fans delighted about how much Martial means to the club.

The Frenchman has appeared five times in the league so far for United, scoring three. He also scored for United in their recent 1-0 win at Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League.

He arrived at Old Trafford from Monaco in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £36m and the transfer made him the world’s most expensive teenager in the game at the time.

Since joining, Martial has played 180 times in all competitions for United. He has scored 52 times, racking up a tally of 30 assists.

Some fans want Solskjaer to play Martial more often than he has, because of the impressive stat.

This season, Martial has completed the highest number of dribbles per game for United at an average of 2.2. That is second to only Paul Pogba, whose tally stands at 1.6 dribbles per game (via WhoScored).

Before returning on the bench against Liverpool last weekend, Martial had sustained a hamstring injury that had kept him out for nine games. The Europa League game in Belgrade was his first start since returning from injury.

Last season, he had scored 11 times in all competitions and had assisted twice too.

What do we think?

Martial is United’s only proper striker. Jose Mourinho knew that Marcus Rashford was never a proper striker and that is, perhaps, why he signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku during his time at the club. Rashford is better of playing on the left with Martial playing upfront. The third goal at Norwich showed exactly why playing on the same pitch is beneficial for both of the young forwards.
