Fans of Everton have taken to Twitter in their droves to express their wishes to see former loanee, Kurt Zouma, return to the Toffees.

Following a Tweet posted by @EvertonNewsFeed, wishing the Frenchman a happy 25th birthday on Sunday, fans inundated the replies with well wishes and requests for him to return to Goodison Park.

Zouma spent the entirety of last season on loan with the Toffees and captured the hearts of supporters with sturdy defensive performances, before a move to return to the club failed to materialise during the summer (via Daily Mail).

With the Toffees struggling for form this season, the club’s fans were wishing for the 25-year-old’s return in the not too distant future.

The Frenchman starred in 32 Premier League outings for Everton last season, scoring two and assisting two across those matches (per Transfermarkt).

During the summer it looked as though a Zouma return to the Toffees could be on the cards but the move, ultimately, did not happen; however, Marco Silva refused to rule out a possible move for the Frenchman in January (via Liverpool Echo).

Despite making 12 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League for Chelsea, plus featuring for the duration of Chelsea’s Super Cup defeat to Liverpool, Everton fans believe Zouma would be more at home in Merseyside.

What do we think?

While the Frenchman is getting minutes and putting in sturdy performances for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, with a 6/10 performance in Chelsea’s most recent outing against Burnley (per The Sun), a return may be unlikely.

Coupled with the fact that the Toffees are struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table – Everton fans may just have to be happy with what has already been, as opposed to what might come, on the Zouma front.
