Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after prominent podcast host Alan Myers shared an assessment of things in and around Goodison Park, ahead of facing Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Toffees recorded their first win in five Premier League games last time out, when goals by Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson ensured Marco Silva’s men beat West Ham United 2-0 and moved out of the relegation places.

Pressure had been mounting on Blues boss Silva for his side’s recent results going into the October international break, as four straight defeats led to suggestions the Portuguese could be nearing the end of his time on Merseyside.

Silva, himself, noted that West Ham presented a must-win match to effectively save Everton’s season (Daily Mail), but saw his players rise to the occasion with a performance of high intensity and desire (Guardian) to secure the points.

Myers feels the result last weekend has brought a ‘real upturn’ to the atmosphere at Goodison Park, although he added that Brighton on Saturday presents another vital fixture.

“Everton need to turn one swallow into a summer now, but I’ve sensed a real upturn in atmosphere, confidence and all-round optimism in and around the club this week,” he shared on Twitter. “Another important game tomorrow!”

Toffees supporters have been reacting to Myers’ comment by echoing his sense of confidence, with many noting that a win on the south coast and against Watford in the Carabao Cup next week would get their season ‘back on track’.

Here are some of the messages shared…

Not all Everton fans agree that there has been a significant change, though, as some replied that the uplift seen was nothing new.

One fan shared ‘I say that every time we win a game’, while another hinted fears of witnessing another gutless display when the Blues play Brighton.

Everton are yet to win at the Amex Stadium, having drawn on their first visit there in 2017 and lost 1-0 away to Brighton last season (11v11). The Toffees’ last win on the road to the Seagulls came in 1983, in an old Division 1 contest decided by a Kevin Sheedy brace.

If Everton are to win their first game at the Amex Stadium, many fans are hoping that Silva does not rotate his line-up for any other reason than injuries, with Yerry Mina a potential absentee after sustaining a knee issue in last week’s win over West Ham (Liverpool Echo).

Silva will be with Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin again, although fans would seemingly prefer that Andre Gomes and Tom Davies retain their starting roles.
