Following Everton’s 3-2 away defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, some fans of the club have lost patience with Marco Silva.
With the Toffees having been on the wrong end of a VAR call and Everton looking destined for a point at the AMEX Stadium, an injury-time own goal from Lucas Digne condemned Silva to his sixth Premier League defeat of the season.
Indeed, having won just three out of 10 games and with only two points separating them from the relegation zone, patience is now starting to wear thin for Toffees fans and some supporters were calling for a new man at the helm following the latest defeat.
Here’s what supporters had to say:
Defeats to Villa, B’mouth, Sheffield Utd, Burnley & Brighton. 6 defeats in 10 league games & 16th position in the table before the weekend is out. Silva is clearly not inept for this job! When will the Board wake up from their slumber & realise that this club is going nowhere?

It’s the same old reason, blame others…, just like you did at Watford and hull everton will end up a championship side if silva stays….sack him NOW !!!!!!!

You’re not good enough for this club.

With regards to our manager, THE CLUB bought a manager who got relegated & sacked through bad results. You get what you buy, this is what we now have. The question is what are the board going to do about it? @EFCTom_ @EvertonBlueArmy @ToffeeTVEFC @thetoffees_com @EvertonNewsFeed

Across the 42-year-old manager’s tenure at Goodison Park, Everton average 1.44 points per match over his 55 league and cup games in charge of the club (as per Transfermarkt).
And, this season hasn’t exactly helped as the Portuguese man is struggling to find a consistent winning formula, with Everton having lost as many as they’ve drawn in their opening 13 games. (as per Transfermarkt).
Following the Toffees’ latest defeat, Silva held blame to VAR for the final outcome – and although in agreement many supporters are ready to see a change in leadership.
Here we go again; Book of Football excuses’ it’s a well read book. Must be Chap 403, Entitled ‘Look disgusted, speak frustrated, feel injusted’. I’d rather go to last chapter in the book; Chap 5,068: ‘Resign or get the sack’ I won’t spoil it for readers but, last word is ‘Bye’

Terrible decision by VAR …but you then set up not to get beaten in the last 10 minutes . 1 point saves all the grief that is now unleashed. Sigurdson and Schneiderlin are not dynamic enough to lift team . He keeps playing them..

The VAR call gave BHA a draw. Our play and lack of fight gave BHA a win. This result can’t be blamed on VAR. This is on Everton and a manager, talented though he is, who cannot motivate and lead his side to a positive result.

What do we think?
Prior to the start of the season, the Toffees were tipped by some to break into ‘the big six’ (via Liverpool Echo), and with expectation like that the season Everton are having will have come as a shock to fans.
Coupled with the fact that the Merseyside club splashed just shy of £108 million on new recruits over the summer (per Transfermarkt) – then the Everton board, too, would have been expecting better of Silva.
In the modern era of the Premier League, few managers are afforded the time to turn around a sinking ship and should the results continue in a similar fashion – it may look even more perilous for the 42-year-old.
