Chelsea fans on Twitter have been sending their well-wishes for a speedy recovery for Antonio Rudiger.

The official Chelsea Twitter account tweeted a video commemorating the two-year anniversary of the defender’s first goal for the club.

The goal came in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Everton in the Carabao Cup in the 2017/18 season. Rudiger scored the first goal of the game with a sublime looping header (BBC Sport).

The tweeted video resulted in some Chelsea fans hoping for a quick recovery from the German.

Here’s a sample of Chelsea fans looking forward to Rudiger’s return:

The 26-year-old has already missed eight games this season, resulting in him making just one Premier League appearance under Frank Lampard (per Transfermarkt). The video of Rudiger’s first goal is reminding some Chelsea fans just what they are missing with his absence.

What do we think?

Rudiger’s absence is not an ideal situation for Frank Lampard or for the Chelsea fans. In his recent press conference ahead of their weekend clash with Burnley, Lampard stated that Rudiger’s fellow centre-back Andreas Christensen is also out injured (per Chelsea FC). Lampard now has two centre-backs out on the sidelines, which leaves the likes of Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori as the club’s only other central defenders.
