This season is James Milner’s fifth as a Liverpool player.
The 33-year-old Leeds-born Anfield favourite has become a Champions League winner since signing for the Reds, although his time could soon be up seeing as his deal with the club expires in summer 2020, according to Transfermarkt.
However, just five years on from signing Milner from Manchester City on a free transfer, (BBC) the Reds aren’t so keen on letting him go just yet.
As he was talking about his situation in a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Genk, he talked of hoping it’s resolved sooner rather than later.
Milner on his future at #LFC: "Who knows. There have been talks so hopefully it gets resolved sooner rather than later. At this moment, I'll just keep playing football as well as I can."

Whether or not Milner is allowed to leave in the summer or if he signs up on a new deal at Anfield only time will tell, but the fans have been very vocal about wanting him to stay, and it looks like this won’t be the last we hear of Milner’s contract situation.
Definately needs to stick around, his presence and experience is vital to the squad.

2 years. His attitude and commitment to himself and the club are an example to all.

He has been a mainstay in the team since he joined us from city on the free I think he deserves to be offered another contract if only for another season

Liverpool have to keep him. Then put him on the coaching staff. A true sportsman.

Some Liverpool fans, though, believe in Milner’s powers even more so than those above. Despite the midfielder being 33-years-old they’re desperate for him to sign a new deal, and have even called for the club to give him whatever he wants in order to make him sign on the dotted line.
Whatever he wants

Give him a lifetime contract. Always wanted him instead of Alberto Aquilani
