Manchester United fans won’t have been confident going into this weekend’s game with Liverpool anyway, but now it seems that things have got even bleaker for the Red Devils, as their goalkeeper and one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, David De Gea, is injured (BBC).

The Spaniard picked up his blow whilst playing for Spain against Sweden in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier, a game in which La Rojas drew 1-1 to secure their place in next summer’s tournament.

However, in the short term, the injury suffered by the United man looks to have ruled him out for this Sunday.

Quite obviously, the supporters are devastated. De Gea has long been one of Manchester United’s standout players, winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for four of the last six seasons (Manutd.com).

His presence will almost certainly be missed, and a lot of fans are already writing it off…

However, a lot of Manchester United fans have been very quick to point out that they have a more than able second choice goalkeeper in the form of Sergio Romero.

The Argentine has got plenty of experience in his career, racking up 96 caps for his country, so this game won’t be dropping him in too far at the deep end and a lot of United fans are holding out hope that the 32-year-old can put in a shift.
