The spoils were shared between Arsenal and Man United on Monday night but the home fans were left fuming after a poor display from Jesse Lingard.

The game took an age to get going, with a terrible first 45 minutes saved by a thunderbolt of a shot from Scott McTominay just before half-time.

Axel Tuanzebe, in his first Premier League start of the season, had a brilliant first half but made a big mistake in the second period that cost United a goal.

The left-back looked like he’d been saved when the linesman put his flag up for offside but a VAR check showed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was at least a yard onside and the goal was given.

Both sides had chances to win it but the game finished 1-1 leaving Arsenal in fourth and Man United 10th in the table.

The effort the United players put in was applauded by the home faithful at the end, but plenty of fans were unhappy with the contribution from Lingard.

It wasn’t for lack of running but he did so little with the ball on the night that it was often easy to forget he was actually playing.

Here are the best reactions to his display at Old Trafford tonight:

One fan asked, “What has Jesse Lingard done in a year that warrants a start for him? Ole is losing my faith and my trust”.

It’s a good question. Lingard hasn’t provided an assist or a goal in the Premier League this season.

It gets worse though. He hasn’t scored a single goal in the league in the whole of 2019 and only provided one assist – at the tail-end of January. That’s simply not good enough.

One fan awarded Lingard “another 0/10 performance” and he was eventually hooked off by Solskjaer after 74 minutes.

He was poor in the 2-0 defeat against West Ham too, getting a 5.87 rating from WhoScored after coming on as a sub. His highest rating of the season was a 7.13 in the 4-0 win against Chelsea and that was the lowest of any Man United player.
