Troy Parrott is surely knocking on Mauricio Pochettino’s door. And if he continues at this rate it won’t be long before it’s answered.

It took the young striker just 10 minutes to get off the mark in the Under-19s UEFA Youth League game against Olympiacos, with the senior team set to play just before 6pm tonight.

Parrott won’t be involved then but a debut for the senior team is surely not far away.

That’s the view of plenty of Tottenham fans after his latest goal-scoring exploits in Greece.

He might only be 17 but the supporters think he’s ready and he would certainly solve the ongoing Pochettino problem of finding a back-up striker for Harry Kane.

Here are the best reactions from Tottenham fans on Twitter:

One fan said that Parrott is “on fire” at the moment and you can’t argue with that.

He scored a goal on his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s over the international break and then came off the bench to bag two more to win the game against Sweden a few days later.

It led senior ROI manager Mick McCarthy to say that he would consider Parrott for a step up to the senior side, although he added that he’d like to see him play for Spurs first.

However, it should also be noted that Parrott did make four appearances in pre-season for Tottenham and he found it hard against opposition like Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus and Tottenham.

It showed Pochettino has faith in him but he came out of the games with an xG of 0.14 over 90 minutes. The step up from the Under-23s to the first team is a big one.

One fan begged Pochettino to play him in the EFL Cup against Colchester next week.

It wouldn’t seem like there’s a much better time to unleash the 17-year-old in the first team, against League Two opposition.

That was also the view of Tottenham journalist Jonathan Veal who said Parrott will “surely get his chance against Colchester next week”.

Final word goes to this Tottenham fan who posted a clip of Parrott “taking the p****” against the Olympiacos team. It led to another fan saying, “OMG, stop that, they have families”.
