Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted a straightforward home win when Leeds host Derby County on Saturday.

Leeds are top of the league after losing just one game from their first seven this season.

Derby are struggling in 19th after losing one and drawing four from their opening games.

Writing in his regular column on Sky Sports, Prutton said, “Well well! Safe to say this is a fixture with a bit of recent history behind it. We may not have Frank Lampard involved anymore but after Spygate and that play-off semi-final, second leg there should be plenty of needle at Elland Road on Saturday.

“Leeds are top of the table heading into the weekend and the gap between themselves and Derby looks to have grown this season. I can’t see past this being a home win.”

Prutton thinks that Leeds will win 2-0.

Leeds have the edge

Leeds beat Derby in three of the four games they played against them last season.

The only problem was the last – the second leg of the play-off semi-final – was the most important.

Leeds have pushed on from there. Any worry about suffering a hangover from the play-off agony was put to bed in the opening day win against Bristol City, and they’re deservedly top of the league.

Derby, by contrast, have lost manager Frank Lampard, along with key players like Harry Wilson, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount. They’re struggling.

There will be needle after last season and we think Elland Road will be absolutely rocking. The Leeds fans – loud at the worst of times – will be really fired up for a game where they will want to exact some degree of revenge.

Leeds have only conceded three goals in the league all season and have goals on the bench from Eddie Nketiah. We think they’ll have too much for Derby.

The bookies agree. Leeds are as short as 2/5 to win the game, while a draw is 4/1 and a Derby win the outside option at 13/2.
