Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s mood has been “absolutely transformed” after meetings with Daniel Levy, according to Football London journalist Alasdair Gold.

The Tottenham manager had made some negative comments over the summer, asking to be called a coach rather than a manager as he had no say on transfers.

He also said the Tottenham squad was the most unsettled it had been since he took over as manager.

However, in a YouTube video on Sunday, Gold has said that Pochettino has completely changed since two meetings with Tottenham chief Levy.

“Pochettino has had two meetings with Daniel Levy now,” Gold said. “We know about the one before the north London derby which was an incredibly positive one, which absolutely transformed the mood of Mauricio Pochettino.

“This was a guy who in pre-season was a little bit cranky, wasn’t the happiest man at that point. He wasn’t delighted with the way the transfer window was going.

“He’s the guy who was calling himself a head coach rather than a manager. Suddenly, Lo Celso, came in, Ryan Sessegnon came in and this meeting with Levy, now it seems rosy again for Pochttino.

“It was an incredibly positive meeting, it sounds like they really thrashed things out. It felt like he was steering the ship again. The comments about it being the most unsettled squad he’s had, it wasn’t very positive.

“Now he’s had another meeting on Friday in London. Poch has made it so clear in recent months that Spurs have a world-class stadium and he wants them to act like a world-class club, this has been his drive.”

Positive Poch is great for Tottenham

Having a manager that is coming out with negative comments in public is not good for the club.

Pochettino wears his heart on his sleeve and was very negative about the club and his role there, saying he should be called the head coach rather than the manager.

It led to Adrian Durham on talkSPORT saying, “If he is feeling that negative, just walk out, just leave, stop creating this negativity that the club doesn’t need.”

Pochettino also said the Tottenham squad was the most unsettled it had been since he arrived, but since then the transfer windows around Europe have shut and Christian Eriksen has stayed put.

There had been uncertainty over Jan Vertonghen too, with the player notably benched for the first few games of the season.

However, both he and Eriksen started the north London derby and it sounds like the meeting with Levy since has marked a sea change in Pochettino’s attitude at the club.

That can only be a good thing, with Tottenham only recording two wins in their last nine Premier League games.

They beat Aston Villa 3-1 in the first game of this season but had to rely on two late goals from Harry Kane to secure the points.

With Pochettino in a ‘rosy’ mood and Harry Kane on the back of a hat-trick for England, Tottenham fans will be looking for a marked improvement in their next game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
