Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to praise Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his efforts in the 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Sunday.

The Reds were undone by a first half strike from Andriy Yarmolenko and an Aaron Cresswell free kick, putting in a fairly uninspired performance from start to finish on their trip to east London.

But Wan-Bissaka did enough to leave with his head held high, even if most of his teammates couldn’t say the same.

A typically dogged performance from the full-back, he was energetic and ruthless, and made sure to stifle any real threat that was put before him.

In fact, most fans must have been ruing the fact that more of his colleagues couldn’t have found similar reserves in their quality levels.

Here are some of the best tweets from supporters.

Wan-Bissaka has arguably been United’s best player by some distance so far this season.

The young defender may have only joined from Crystal Palace over the summer, but he is already looking like a mainstay of the Reds’ backline, and he must be one of the first names on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team sheet.

It’s easy to see why.

He has averaged a monstrous 5.6 tackles per game in the league so far, as well as 1.2 interceptions and 1.8 clearances, as per Whoscored.

And the 21-year-old has been equally effective on the front foot.

Wan-Bissaka has averaged 1.6 successful dribbles per match, as per Whoscored, as well as a pass completion rate in excess of 80%.

By comparison, Ashley Young, who’s taken over the left-back role since Luke Shaw got injured, has managed just 0.5 tackles and 0.7 dribbles per game, as per Whoscored.

The only issue United have with Wan-Bissaka is that he plays in a position that is traditionally not that influential.

If the youngster was putting in these kind of gigantic displays in the centre of the park or on the shoulder of the last man, maybe they wouldn’t have to endure as many dreary afternoons as they have done in recent times.

Still, they have got a real gem in the starlet, and if he keeps this up, it is surely only a matter of time before he is in the England side.
