Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to slaughter Jack Harrison for his performance in the 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men were undone by a first half strike from Macauley Bonne on their trip to the capital against the newly-promoted Addicks.

And while few players covered themselves in glory, many supporters were quick to direct their ire at the 22-year-old winger Harrison, who put in a pretty dire display.

His possession retention left a lot to be desired, and he rarely looked like properly troubling the Charlton backline from his post out on the left flank.

Here are some of the best tweets from supporters.

To be fair to Harrison, he started this season at quite a pace, with former United man Danny Mills even going as far as to suggest that he was playing ‘absolutely exceptional” in an interview with Football Insider.

But few have forgotten some of the languid displays he put in last term for Bielsa’s side, and that will always make him an automatic target for frustration when things aren’t going to plan.

Last term, for example, he had a dribble completion rate of just 50%, and a pass accuracy rate of just over 70%, as per Wyscout.

If you compare those figures to young Jack Clarke for instance, who had only just broke into the first team, he was managing 55.6% dribble completion and 74.5% pass accuracy, as per Wyscout.

This season, things have been slightly better for Harrison, who has averaged 61% successful dribbles, but the fact remains that first impressions are important, and the winger has made a rod for his own back at Elland Road.

One bad game should not, and hopefully will not, define his season, but he cannot afford to drop too many terrible displays like the one he did at The Valley, or he may face too much of a mountain to climb when it comes to regaining supporters’ affections.
