Chelsea are close to agreeing a new five-year deal for 18-year-old winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Express.

The deal is worth a stunning £180,000-a-week, for a total of £46.8m over the full term. It would keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2024.

His current deal expires at the end of the season and he would have been able to talk to overseas clubs in January about a pre-contract deal ahead of a free transfer next summer.

The Express report also claims that Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James will also get new contract offers in the next few months.

The club has also opened talks with fullback Emerson over a new contract.

TiF Tactics – Hudson-Odoi set to thrive under Lampard

Hudson-Odoi has missed out on the start to Frank Lampard’s managerial reign through injury but is expected back after the international break.

Fans will be delighted that he’s set to sign a new contract and would have been nervously looking at the length of his current contract.

Hudson-Odoi struggled for game-time under Maurizio Sarri and we were expecting to see more of him last season. That could well change under a manager who has already shown a different attitude to young players at Chelsea with the promotion of Mason Mount.

The size of this contract shows how highly-rated Hudson-Odoi is at the club. His current contract is just £2,500-a-week according to Capology and Spotrac.

He’s only made 28 appearances for the club to date, scoring five goals and registering five assists, but has already won two caps for the senior England side.

Numbers on stats site WyScout show why he’s such an exciting prospect.

He takes on close to 10 dribbles per 90 minutes and completes almost 60% of them. He takes 2.56 shots per 90 and boasts a pass success rate of 82.9%. An xG of 0.27 and an assist every three games promises rich attacking returns for Chelsea.

Lineker – ‘bags of talent’

Hudson-Odoi did enough to get himself noticed by Gary Lineker earlier this year after the Carabao cup semi-final against Tottenham. Lineker said he was a “young English player with bags of talent”.

Bayern Munich were interested in him after Borussia Dortmund snapped up Jadon Sancho for just £7m from Man City. Chelsea reportedly rejected a bid for him in the summer and Chelsea fans will now be glad that Hudson-Odoi looks like he’s at Chelsea for the long-term.
