Rangers winger Eros Grazda could leave the club in the next few days, with two Qatari clubs understood to be keen on snapping him up before the closing of the country’s transfer window, as per the Daily Record

The 24-year-old has been moved towards the exit at Ibrox after allegedly spitting at Ballymena defender Andrew Burns while turning out for the Ibrox Colts in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup win last week.

And it is now understood that Qatari Stars League champions Al Sadd and fourth placed Al-Rayyan are both keen on offering him an escape route out of Glasgow.

Will Grezda go?

At this stage, it feels pretty evident that the Albanian does not have a future at Ibrox.

As reported by the Express, Steven Gerrard has made it patently clear that he will never play for Rangers again after the spitting incident that marred last week’s Colts win.

As such, the only really option he has now is to seek a new club.

If either of these two Qatari clubs are serious about Grezda, and if they firm up that interest with a concrete bid, you wouldn’t be surprised to see him go over the next few days.

Will he be missed?

First and foremost, it is clear that Steven Gerrard is trying to build a squad that operates in the right way, as pointed out by former Gers star Barry Ferguson.

As such, there is no place for the kind of disgusting incident that Grezda was allegedly involved in last week. In that respect, even if he was the most potent player in the Blues’ squad, he would presumably shown the exit.

As it is, however, the 24-year-old has played just 17 times for Gerrard since signing in August of 2018, and when he has featured, he hasn’t exactly set the world alight.

Last term, for instance, he had a dribble success rate of 56.6%, as per Wyscout, and won 43.3% of his offensive duels, but in terms of his end product, things were pretty poor.

A shot accuracy of 30.8%, plus an average of 1.92 progressive runs per game, leave a lot to be desired.

As a point of reference, Ryan Kent, who was Gerrard’s first choice throughout much of last season, only had a dribble success rate of 52.9%, but had a shot accuracy of 45.6% and made 3.16 progressive runs, as per Wyscout.

In short, Gerrard has more efficient, effective options than Grezda, and he will not be missed if he does leave.
