Athletic journalist Kieran Devlin has claimed that Man City defender Jeremie Frimpong is “very, very close” to becoming a Celtic player.
Devlin added that the right-back is currently travelling to Glasgow ahead of completing a four-year deal.
He made the claim on Monday evening on his personal Twitter account, with the Scottish summer transfer window closing at midnight.
Sources tell The Athletic Jeremie Frimpong to Celtic very, very close to being done. En route to Glasgow now. Four year deal.

TiF tactics – What are Celtic getting?
A talent for the future. The 18-year-old has played through the youth ranks at Man City, including the Under23s, and is a right-back who can also play on the left flank.
However, it’s obviously been decided that he has no long-term future at the Premier League champions, with Celtic close to signing him on a long-term deal.
It means he can develop and get limited first-team experience this season, with Celtic also having signed Moritz Bauer on a season-long loan from Stoke.
Hatem Abd Elhamed has also been used at right-back by Neil Lennon this season.
Frimpong has some impressive numbers behind him, despite not making a senior appearance for Man City yet.
According to WyScout, he has a pass success rate of 85.3% and makes over five dribbles per 90 minutes.
He also makes over five interceptions and three progressive runs per 90 minutes.
The Premiership will be a big step up from anything he’s done before but we expect Lennon to integrate him gradually before he starts to compete for a regular first-team spot next season.
