Tottenham fans had plenty to watch last night as England took on Kosovo in a Euro 2020 qualifier.

As well as keeping an eye on Harry Kane – who ended up missing his first penalty for his country – they had more than a passing interest in how his opposite number was getting on.

Vedat Muriqi was linked with Tottenham ahead of the game when Turkish outlet Sabah reported that Spurs had sent scouts to watch as he scored in his last game for Kosovo as they beat the Czech Republic 2-1 on Saturday.

Daniel Levy is on the lookout for a back-up striker for Harry Kane and they might just have found him.

Standing at 6ft4in, Muriqi offers something very different to Kane and he provided he could mix it with the best Premier League strikers as he bested Harry Maguire to win and score a penalty last night.

He also provided two assists in the game that England won 5-3.

Here are the best reactions from fans across the world:

“Who is this Vedat Muriqi?”

That was the question from one fan after a performance when he said the striker was “ripping England to shreds” on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old striker signed for Fenerbahce for just over £3m this summer and has already scored twice in three games for his new club.

He’s won 20 caps for his country and made it five international goals against England last night. He’s on fire at the moment though with three goals in his last three internationals.

One fan called him the “judge, jury and executioner” and he really shone for Kosovo against an attacking England side.

According to WhoScored, he was the highest-rated Kosovo player with a score of 9.1. That was also higher than any other player on the pitch with the exception of man-of-the-match Raheem Sterling.

One fan posted a clip of the beautiful second-half assist Muriqi provided for Valon Berisha. He beat one player before cutting inside and dropping a beautifully judged curling ball into Berisha’s path. To be fair to Berisha, he took the chance brilliantly, too.

Kosovo definitely surprised England last night and they were much better than many fans thought they would be. Muriqi was a big part of that.

One Fenerbahce fan said that Tottenham would need to pay “AT LEAST 40-45m Euros” if they want to sign him in January. Levy won’t like the sound of that.
