TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham has urged Manchester City fans to appreciate watching Kevin De Bruyne while they can, claiming that there is no better player “across the globe” than the Belgian right now.

The playmaker was in electric form at the weekend, assisting two and scoring another in an 8-0 demolition of Watford.

And speaking on his show on Monday, Durham was eager to sing the 28-year-old’s praises.

He said: “At this moment in time you are seeing Kevin De Bruyne at the very top of his game, and right now, across the globe, is there really anybody playing football than Kevin De Bruyne?

“Please drink it in, soak it in, cause it probably won’t get any better than this. City fans, you are so, so lucky.

“For me, he is everything.”

How good is De Bruyne?

The short answer is that he is world class.

De Bruyne has registered a Whoscored rating of 8.19 so far this season, making him the joint fourth highest rated player in Europe at the present moment.

If you examine the top ten in that list, it becomes clear just how important the Belgian is in terms of his creative output.

De Bruyne has averaged 4.5 key passes so far this season, and already registered seven assists from five Premier League starts and one substitute appearance.

The closest comparison on that list in terms of current form is Luis Alberto of Lazio, but even then the Spaniard has three assists in four games and is making 3.5 key passes per game.

It is perhaps no surprise, therefore, to see Jamie Redknapp arguing that De Bruyne can break Thierry Henry’s assist record in the Premier League this season, as per his Daily Mail column.

The Frenchman’s record of 20 assists has stood since 2002/03, but after just six games, you wouldn’t bet against De Bruyne registering the 14 efforts he would need to shatter that figure over the course of the next 32 fixtures.

If he could pull off that feat and put his name alongside the likes of Henry, then he would surely be remembered as one of the greatest players in Premier League history.
