talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has said that Tottenham’s recent record is “appalling” ahead of their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

Cundy said that Tottenham lost 13 games in the league last season and have already lost one this campaign, against Newcastle.

Talking on Drive (talkSPORT, Friday, 5.45pm), Cundy said, “Losing 13 games last season, they’ve already lost one this season. They’re losing on average one every three games which is remarkable.

“They’re a side that more often than not should cause problems, even to the big sides in the division. But one loss in three is appalling.”

Tottenham in trouble?

Losing one in three in the Premier League isn’t going to get you anywhere near winning the title.

Man City lost four games last season on their way to lifting the trophy and Liverpool just the one.

However, the Tottenham stats are skewed by the terrible run they had at the end of last season. They lost seven of the last 12 games and only got a top-four spot because of the form of other teams like Arsenal.

It means that Spurs have actually lost eight of the last 16 games in the league and even the most committed Spurs fan would admit they should have lost the game against Man City in August.

The squad has been unsettled and Harry Kane was missing for the run-in last season, but now the transfer window is shut and Christian Eriksen is still there, it’s time for Tottenham to put a run of results together.

Tomorrow won’t be easy, though. Crystal Palace are the over-performers in the league so far, and they’ve already taken the scalp of Man United at Old Trafford. They’re in fourth, five places and two points ahead of Tottenham, who will leapfrog them with a win tomorrow.

The good news for Tottenham is that Tanguy Ndombele, Kyle Walker-Peters, Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier are all back in training and face late fitness tests ahead of the game.
