Leeds predicted XI v Charlton

Leeds travel to Charlton on Saturday and will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping two points against Derby.

Leeds dominated that game but couldn’t put the match to bed, with Mateusz Kilch missing a penalty before Derby equalised in injury time.

Marcelo Bielsa isn’t the sort of manager to make knee-jerk changes and he should be happy with how his team are performing this season, if not the results.

Leeds are still top of the table and are still the bookies favourites to win the title.

Charlton, under former Leeds player Lee Bowyer, had a fast start to the season but have lost the last two and dropped to eighth in the table.

The clash on Saturday should be an entertaining one.

Goalkeeper
Kiko Casilla has been solid for Leeds this season after some high-profile blunders last campaign. He’s only conceded four goals in eight games and should get the gloves on Saturday.

Defenders
Barry Douglas and Luke Ayling are back from injury but with Leeds boasting the best defence in the Championship, we can’t see Bielsa changing anything. That means Ezgjan Alioski on the left, Ben White and Liam Cooper in the middle and Stuart Dallas on the right.

Midfielders
Kalvin Phillips should take his defensive midfield spot, with Mateusz Klich ahead of him. The one change we do think Bielsa will make is bringing Adam Forshaw back into the team after missing the last two games through injury. That means Jamie Shackleton dropping to the bench.

Attackers
There’s been a big question for weeks about whether Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah will start for Leeds. We can’t see Bielsa dropping Patrick Bamford, who is playing well but just not converting enough chances. Leeds have won all four games away from home this season – it’s Elland Road where they’re struggling. Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison should keep their places, but it’s very possible that Costa comes in for the Man City loanee.

Changes
In: Adam Forshaw
Out: Jamie Shackleton

Injuries
None. And it’s the first time we’ve been able to say that about Leeds in a long time.

This is the starting XI we expect Bielsa to announce on Saturday:
