Leeds fans have heaped praise on young attacker Mateusz Bogusz after another solid display for the Under-23 side on Sunday.

The youngsters maintained their unbeaten start to the new season but couldn’t break down a resolute Bristol City side, with the game ending 0-0.

Bogusz came the closest for either side, hitting the woodwork twice in the game, and he impressed plenty of Leeds fans.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut in the EFL cup game against Stoke last week, and made the bench for the first four Championship games.

However, he hasn’t made the last two Bielsa squads and was in action on Sunday instead this weekend with the Under-23s.

Leeds Live gave him the joint-highest rating of any Leeds player on the day with a 7/10 and said, “The Pole has a lethal shot on him when he’s given the opportunity to strike. He can consider himself really unlucky not to be the matchwinner on the day, as he got closer than anyone else.”

Bogusz isn’t short of confidence. He showed that in the EFL cup game against Stoke, which marked his debut for the senior side. He took on four shots in that game, as many as striker Eddie Nketiah [WyScout], and was at it again on Sunday for the Under-23s.

One fan said he “may have the sweetest strike at the club” and only the woodwork denied him a goal on Sunday.

Another fan said that Bogusz “has the chance and potential to be the next Saiz/Hernandez” – high praise indeed. Samu Saiz was brilliant for Leeds before his time at Elland Road ended on a sour note when he left the club abruptly to return to Spain.

Pablo Hernandez has been the main creative outlet for Leeds this season, with two goals and two assists, after a standout 18/19 campaign. Bogusz has convinced fans he can be the next number 10 for the club.

One fan said Bogusz “impresses every time he touches the ball” and said he was “absolute quality”. Another said that “Costa + Bogusz + Hernandez + Nketiah = goals”. Number one striker Patrick Bamford was missing from that fan’s equation after a blank against Swansea on Saturday.
