Celtic may have won against Hamilton but that does not mean that all of their players were immune from criticism in a game that Neil Lennon’s side should have looked a lot more comfortable in.
The Hoops extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a 1-0 victory at New Douglas Park courtesy of an early goal by James Forrest.
Although the Bhoys pressed forward on a regular basis, their overall attacking play left a lot to be desired and there were some fans on Twitter who did not shy away from tearing Callum McGregor to shreds for his performance.
McGregor, 26, was sat in the centre of the midfield alongside Scott Brown but did not really have the influence that he should have had according to those who watch on from Twitter.
Here is a selection of tweets from fans who were less than impressed with the Scotland international’s performance at Hamilton:
Poorest game I’ve ever seen Callum McGregor play. Most unlike him ?

McGregor needs dropped IMO. Undoubtedly a talent but just seems miles off it. Sloppy and passive #HAMCEL

Brown and McGregor have hardly won a tackle or made a pass this half.

These two supporters believe that McGregor has been playing too much football lately and reckon that could be the reason why he did not look that great against Hamilton on Saturday.
According to transfermarkt, McGregor has played more minutes than any other Celtic player this season with the Scottish midfielder playing in 13 of the club’s 14 matches across all competitions.
McGregor also played 90 minutes against Russia and 68 minutes against Belgium in the recent international break.
Maybe these fans have a point.

McGregor has looked below par for a while, no harm taking him out every now and then, he plays far too much fitbaw

McGregor is not over-rated.
He has scored three goals in 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season and was hugely important last term when he netted six goals and supplied 16 assists in 59 total outings.
A few sloppy performances for club and country does not make him over-rated, it just means that he is struggling for form.
