Man City are close to their fourth signing of the summer with Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo set to join before the transfer deadline on Thursday, according to Sky Sports.

Man City had an initial offer rejected earlier in the summer but it now looks like £27.5m will be enough to get it done, with City right-back Danilo moving as part of the deal.

Pep Guardiola’s side have already signed Rodri, Angelino and Zach Steffen this summer and Cancelo will join to provide competition to Kyle Walker.

Who is Cancelo?

The 25-year-old is a Portugal international (14 games/three goals) who came up through the youth ranks at Benfica before joining Valencia for £13.5million in 2015.

He made 91 appearances for Valencia before his £36m move to Juventus last summer, where he made 28 starts last season.

According to WhoScored.com, Cancelo’s strengths are passing and dribbling, with the player getting forward whenever he can.

What are they saying?

BBC pundit Don Hutchison believes Man City are on the verge of a great signing. He said that while some people don’t seem to like Cancelo, “I love him”. He added that he’s good going forward and has the vision that will enable him to fit into the Premier League.

In a follow-up tweet he said that Walker would stay as number one but that the addition of Cancelo would make City “stronger for all the trophies they will be chasing”.

It’s another reason to be worried if you’re a Liverpool fan. Every player that City brings in will make their job that much tougher next season.
