Bruno Fernandes has told Sporting Lisbon that he wants to join Tottenham before the end of the transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portuguese international, who hit 32 goals in all competitions last season, has been the subject of much speculation this summer, but the report suggests that several Premier League clubs have been put off making a formal offer for him because of his £64 million price tag.

But it is understood that Spurs have made a bid, and that Fernandes has sat down with officials in Lisbon to inform them of his desire to move to London.

TiF Tactics – Would Fernandes be a good fit for Spurs?

Any player who can hit 32 goals from midfield is always going to be a popular addition.

Fernandes is creative and dangerous, and those two things in tandem would make him a good fit for just about any team in the Premier League.

The Portuguese international averaged 3.6 shots per game last season, as well as 3.2 key passes per match, as per Whoscored.

He is clearly a live wire with the ability to dictate matches, and were he to move to Spurs, he would add another dimension to an already impressive attacking arsenal.

Likely to happen?

It sounds like the player wants the move, and it would also appear that Spurs are  out in front in the race to snap him up out of the Premier League clubs that have been linked with him.

£64 million is a lot of money, however, and while Tottenham have made an offer, there is no guarantee that it is anywhere near that kind of fee.

Daniel Levy is an infamously stubborn negotiator too, so if there is a disparity in the two sides’ valuation of the player, don’t expect the gap to be bridged too easily.
