Nketiah set for debut v Salford

|

Leeds fans will get the chance to see new striker Eddie Nketiah in action for the first time when they play Salford in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Talking in the pre-match press conference, Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that the 20-year-old would feature but didn’t reveal whether he would start or come off the bench.

He said that Nketiah, 20, had spent Friday and Saturday doing evaluation tests before training normally with the squad on Sunday and Monday.

Leeds need goals

Leeds fans will be delighted with the news that Nketiah will be involved and will be hoping that he can provide the goals their side has been lacking.

That was the story of last season and the troubles in front of goal continued in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

According to WhoScored, Leeds had 68% possession and 15 shots (four on target) to Forest’s six (one on target), giving them a conversion rate of 6%. They should have been out of sight before Lewis Grabban bundled the equaliser in but Patrick Bamford, in particular, was wasteful.

Nketiah has been brought in to provide the goals for Bielsa and Leeds fans will be hoping he gets off to a fast start on Tuesday, against League 2 opposition.
