New Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is looking to make Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose his first signing for the Magpies, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claims that the veteran boss is keen on bringing the 29-year-old to St James’ Park, with left back a position he dearly wants to strengthen.

The England international is thought to be willing to consider all possible options as he appears destined to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The Star’s report mentions a £15million move for Rose, however, they later state that he would cost a similar amount to the £20million Atletico Madrid just spent to sign Kieran Trippier from Spurs.

Here is what the Tottenham fans think of the potential move:

The majority of the Spurs supporters, it would seem, find this potential deal hugely baffling. There seems to be a bit of confusion in north London as to why the club are seemingly trying to shift Rose, considering that he is undoubtedly top four quality.

There’s also plenty of objection to the £15million price tag bandied about by the Star. Clearly that’s just not a realistic sum. Rose is a hugely well respected, proven international defender who improved mightily as last season went on. £15million is an absolute pittance for a player of his quality.

There does seem to be something slightly amiss, here. Maybe the relationship between Rose and manager Mauricio Pochettino has broken down, but something’s definitely gone wrong, because a player of Rose’s quality would not be let go under normal circumstances.

When the rumoured selling team’s fans don’t want the player to go and the rumoured buying team’s fans would love the player to sign for them, it’s perhaps an indication that the selling team should reconsider their stance.

The Newcastle fans would clearly love to see Rose strut his stuff on Tyneside, with his previous loan spell at Sunderland seemingly forgotten by all.
