Jack Clarke has signed a four-year deal with Tottenham, making him their first signing of the summer.
In fact, Clarke becomes the first signing for Tottenham since the £25million fee paid for Lucas Moura in January 2018.
The news was confirmed by the club on Tuesday morning but there’s a catch.
Clarke is getting loaned straight back to Leeds for the season.

Tottenham fans are happy with the news, although the player they really want to see announced is Tanguy Ndombele.
However, there were plenty of supporters who couldn’t help but point out the irony of not signing a player for over 500 days and then punting him straight out on loan.
Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter:

Simon has got a point but Clarke was always going to be a player for the future. He wasn’t starting for Leeds towards the end of the season and only made four league starts in total last season. Clarke was never going to dislodge players like Dele Alli and Lucas Moura from the side, the only question was where he was going to develop next season. Pochettino obviously thought Clarke, who’s still only 18, would be better served staying at Leeds than playing with the Tottenham reserves.

You can understand the frustration from some of the Tottenham fans but Clarke is being seen as a long-term prospect. Leeds fans will be hoping he has a standout season as he bids to impress Pochettino from afar.
