Rangers have been given a boost with the news that they will have first option to sign Ryan Kent this summer, according to STV.

Kent is back at Liverpool after a successful 18/19 loan deal at Ibrox, where Jurgen Klopp is going to run the rule over him.

Kent will fly out to the States with his Liverpool teammates for their pre-season tour.

If Liverpool decide that the best move for him is to head back out on loan, Rangers will have the opportunity to bring him back on loan.

VERDICT

Has Kent done enough to force himself into the reckoning of the Liverpool first-team squad? He couldn’t have done much more at Rangers, where he was awarded the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award. Gerrard has confirmed many times that he wants to bring Kent back to Rangers and he’s not the only team that’s after him. Marcelo Bielsa also wants Ryan Kent on loan at Leeds after a season that saw him score six and add nine assists in 43 games. If Rangers do land him on loan again he will hook up and with Liverpool teammate Sheyi Ojo, who scored in his first competitive game for Rangers in last night’s Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s. It will be more proof that the links Gerrard provides are worth a lot, on top of his emerging skills as a manager. Kent is 22-years-old, though, and must be thinking he’s in the last-chance saloon with Liverpool.
