Tottenham will not listen to offers for Kyle Walker-Peters this summer, according to the Sun.

With Kieran Trippier leaving for Atletico Madrid, and with Serge Aurier behind in his preparations for the new season due to his African Cup of Nations commitments with Ivory Coast, Walker-Peters could be Mauricio Pochettino’s only available orthodox right-back going into the Premier League opening day clash against Aston Villa

The 22-year-old had been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Brighton, as well as Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

TiF Tactics – What does this mean for Spurs?

From a purely pragmatic point of view, Walker-Peters has to stay at Tottenham this season.

The youngster had a couple of opportunities to prove himself last year, and now that Kieran Trippier has left for Spain, you would expect those chances to keep on coming thick and fast.

The only other orthodox option at right-back is Serge Aurier, and while you would maybe expect him to be Pochettino’s first choice at the moment – when available – the Englishman will be a very capable deputy.

Aurier edges him statistically at the moment, with more tackles, interceptions, clearances, and blocks per game last season [Whoscored], but Walker-Peters was impressive when he did feature, and at the age of 22, has bucketloads of potential yet to be realised.

Is he likely to stay?

In a word, yes.

Spurs have no obligation to loan him out, can offer more than enough first team football next season, and perhaps most importantly, actually need him.

Maybe if they bring in a new right-back before the start of the new campaign the situation will change, but at the moment, that looks fairly unlikely.

Walker-Peters isn’t going anywhere, and chances are he could be walking out on the first day of the new season, ready to stake his claim as Pochettino’s starting option from here on out.
