Leyton Orient have rejected a £300,000 bid plus add-ons from Tottenham for centre-back Dan Happe, according to the Sun.

They want more money but are resigned to losing Happe who is out of contract next summer.

Leeds, Leicester and Norwich are also interested in the 20-year-old, with Leyton Orient hoping they can keep their player on loan for next season.

Tottenham have signed two players this summer in Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke, and the latter has been loaned back to Leeds.

Who is Happe?

Happe broke into the Leyton Orient team as they were relegated from League 2 in 2017 and has put in 44 appearances across two seasons in the National League, helping them to win promotion last season. The 20-year-old has been compared to Harry Maguire and dubbed “one of the hottest prospects outside the Premier League” in the Daily Mail. He’s taller than the England international, albeit only marginally at 6’5″, but that gives him a massive presence in the box and he makes an average of 6.84 aerial duels per 90 minutes, winning 62.1% of them [https://wyscout.com/]. The ball-playing defender plays on the left-hand side of the defence and was described by Leyton Orient’s captain Jobi McAnuff as playing with “a maturity way beyond” his years. He’s certainly got himself on the radar of some serious clubs, and offers the sort of style of play that both Mauricio Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa are attracted to.
