It would be a surprise if Tottenham signed Juventus forward Paulo Dybala this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

Spurs have been linked with an £80 million swoop for the 25-year-old in recent days, as reported by Football.London.

But Solhekol is sceptical over the chances of a deal actually being completed.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (23.21), he said: “I would be surprised if they were to sign Dybala from Juventus, but it’s not something that we can rule out just yet.”

TiF Tactics – What would Dybala offer Spurs?

Straight off the bat, it has to be said that the Argentine is a special, special player.

The 25-year-old has long been considered a successor to Lionel Messi in the Argentinian international setup, as reported by the Express, and you don’t gain that kind of title without some talent to back it up.

Dybala has struggled to hit top form at times since Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Juventus last summer, but make no mistake, he is some player.

Even in a pretty ordinary year over in Italy, he managed a pass completion rate of 89% and and average of 2.2 shots per game in Serie A [Whoscored].

He may be a little out of sorts at the moment, and the truth is that that is probably the cause of the rumours about his potential exit, but if Spurs were to snap him up, they would be getting a world class talent.

Likely to happen?

Solhekol’s comments don’t bode too well, but just because a Sky journalist says something, it doesn’t make it a fact.

Even the reporter himself admits that it can’t be ruled out at this stage, although you have to wonder whether Daniel Levy has enough in the tank to spend the £80 million being touted for Dybala’s services, not to mention whatever wages he would surely command.

It would be a dream move were it to go through, but at the moment, it looks as if it might not happen for Spurs this summer.
