Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham have completed the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

Romano tweeted that Ndombele has signed a six-year deal after completing his medical in north London.

There has been no official confirmation yet but we’d expect that to follow tomorrow at the latest if Romano’s information is correct.

Romano made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon.

VERDICT

So Tottenham are off and running in this summer transfer window. First, it was Jack Clarke from Leeds and that deal has been officially confirmed today with the player heading back on a season-long loan to the Championship club. Ndombele is a biggie though and Tottenham fans will be absolutely delighted that Daniel Levy is dusting off his chequebook and finally delivering the sort of player who can lift Spurs up a level. Of course, there will be question marks surrounding a player who hasn’t played league football outside France, but we’re expecting big things. Ndombele’s story has been inspiring too. He was released from the Guingamp academy five years ago and then played in the French lower leagues before a move to Lyon last summer. Now he’s set to complete a deal reportedly worth £65million – a club record for Tottenham. Pochettino will expect him to make a big impact in a position Spurs have struggled with since Mousa Dembele left for China last January. Will it be enough to see Spurs challenge for the title next season? With Man City and Liverpool playing at such a high level, that’s unlikely. But maybe Levy has more tricks left up his sleeve this summer.
