Paulo Dybala is “genuinely interested” in a move to Tottenham this summer, according to journalist Ian McGarry.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Spurs from Juventus in recent days, with Football.London claiming that the club are pursuing a deal worth around £80 million deal for the 25-year-old.

And speaking on the Transfer Window podcast (4.30), McGarry claimed that he had heard positive things about the South American’s opinion of the links.

He said: “I’m told that he [Dybala] is genuinely interested in that approach from Tottenham, and I’m also told that it is serious on Tottenham’s part.”

TiF Tactics – How would Dybala fit in at Spurs?

On the face of it, Dybala would be an ideal fit for Tottenham.

The Argentine is tricky and agile, with a good eye for a pass and a goalscoring instinct.

He registered a pass completion rate of 89% last season for Juve, as well as two shots per game and 1.5 key passes [Whoscored].

Those kind of skills will always translate well for a side who play the high energy brand of attacking football that Pochettino employs at Tottenham, and it’s easy to see Dybala bringing a new dimension to that.

His tendency to play through the middle could lead to a bit of a change of shape in north London, but Harry Kane wouldn’t say no to a partner in crime, especially when the player in question is a world-class talent like the South American.

Likely to happen?

It certainly sounds plausible.

Whether Daniel Levy has the desire or the means to bankroll such a large move this late in the window remains to be seen, but by the sounds of it, there is serious interest from both club and player.

At this stage, that’s all you can really ask for, and if the chairman is keen, and if he uses that famous negotiating acumen of his, he could pull off a huge coup.
