It’s been a good day for Leeds United after the club announced three new signings – Jack Harrison and Ben White on loan for the season, and a three-year deal for 18-year-old striker Liam McCarron.

Jack Clarke is expected to leave, with a move to Tottenham drawing close, although he could be re-joining on loan for the season.

It wasn’t all good news, though, as Telegraph journalist Matt Law revealed that Fulham are “very keen” on a move for centre-back Pontus Jansson.

That would seem like an odd sideways move. Jansson has admitted that he wants to play in the Premier League, but he’s also said that he really wants to do that with Leeds. And Leeds are the current bookies favourites to go up next season.

The last word from his brother [Peter Jansson] on the subject was back on June 15 when he said that the centre-back was staying at Leeds as long as the club wanted him.

Would they be tempted to sell him? That could all depend on how they view Ben White but even if he was being brought in for the first team, Leeds would surely need extra cover.

Injuries forced Marcelo Bielsa to play Kalvin Phillips at centre-back last season – 13 times in the Championship – and he’s much better in the defensive midfield position.

However, Jansson is one of the few players, along with Phillips, who would command a big fee. And if Leeds were offered big money, it could all depend on who they can find to bring in – and how much he would cost.

That led to one fan asking if Jansson was sold, who would realistically replace him at Leeds.

A few names were thrown up but aside from Liam Moore from Bristol City and the recently signed White from Brighton, all the focus was on Chelsea.

Gary Cahill was mentioned by one fan, who perhaps didn’t see the word “realistically” – he’s out of contract but would come with a hefty wage demand.

Another name mentioned was 26-year-old Michael Hector, who has spent each season out on loan since his £5m move from Reading, most recently at Sheffield Wednesday.

He got two votes alongside two mentions for Jack Clarke-Salter, who spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnham.

However, to get a loan from Chelsea might mean going through Frank Lampard who seems almost certain to be taking over at Stamford Bridge. And that might not be easy given the bad blood between the sides last season.

This is how the fans responded:
