Who Will Win Euro 2020?

|

The UEFA Euro 2020 will be held from 12 June to 12 July 2020 in 12 host countries. The decision to hold the 16th European Championship in a row at 12 different countries is a one-off event to celebrate the 60th birthday of the competition. Held at Wembley, this will be the second European Championship final at the stadium (the first one was in 1996).

The odds for the upcoming European Championship are already out at online bookies even with the tournament taking place next summer. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, now’s the time to place a bet on the major outright favourites or dark horses.

France

Who else but France? The current world champion has the arguably best team in the tournament and the best young players. Led by the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, the French have enough firepower to lift the trophy which got away from them last time around.

After deservedly winning the 2018 World Cup, France is the main favourite for the 2020 European Championship. Bookies are giving France odds of 7/2 to lift the trophy right in front of other favourites such as England, Belgium, and Spain among others.

England

A bit surprisingly, England has been made a second favourite for the 2020 Euros. It’s because of two reasons – the fact that Southgate’s boys made a deep World Cup run and the fact that the Euro 2020 final is played at Wembley stadium. Of course, we’re not diminishing the team’s chances. A rejuvenated English squad led by Gareth Southgate reached the World Cup semi-finals where they lost in extra-time to silver medallist Croatia.

No one really expected the Three Lions to reach that far, but it’s obvious that we should all count on England from now on. Currently going for 9/2, England is as good a bet as any.

Belgium

With players such as new Real Madrid superstar Eden Hazard in the fold, Belgium is good enough to be among the top 3 favorites at any tournament it qualifies for. It’s not just because of Eden Hazard. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Axel Witsel, and Dries Mertens make Belgium a very powerful national team that aims for the top at any European Championship or World Cup.

At the moment, Belgium shares the same odds with Spain and Germany as potential Euro 2020 winners (7/1). After missing the chances to play for gold in the last Euros and World Cup, experts believe that Belgium is definitely headed there now. With such a powerful squad, we strongly agree.

Who Are the Other Favourites?

Apart from the three aforementioned top favorites, bookies believe that the Netherlands may mount a title challenge if things go their way. Currently @ 9/1, the Netherlands have been in a deep slump for quite a long time before being rejuvenated by a slew of young stars such as Barcelona-bound Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.

After the Netherlands, the odds drop quite a bit. Italy is down the list @ 16/1 just like defending champion Portugal. Croatia is even lower on the list of favourites with odds of 25/1, which clearly indicates that we could be in for an exciting tournament.
