Tottenham are not interested in signing Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo, according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs by Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte, having hit 12 goals in 44 matches for Dinamo Zagreb last season.

But Gold has cast doubt over the report.

Writing on his personal Twitter, he said: “Lots of people asking about Dani Olmo.

“Rather than going through replying to every one of them, as far as I’m aware there’s nothing in that link.”

OPINION

If Gold is right, and he tends to be, then this is a bit of a shame really. Olmo looks like a real player, and at 21, he has the potential to kick on and become a top, top talent. The Spaniard played a key role in helping his country lift the U21 European Championship last month, hitting three goals, including the strike that would turn out to be the winner in a 2-1 victory over Germany in the final. He also registered an assist, made two key passes per match, and had a pass completion rate of 82.9% from an average of 43.8 attempts [Whoscored]. The midfielder clearly has a creative streak a mile wide, and having come through the academy system at Barcelona before moving to Zagreb, he has evidently been taught how to play football the right way. If Spurs aren’t interested, somebody else will be, and Tottenham fans will be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino has his eye on somebody even better.
